About The Kerf

A kerf is the slot a saw blade leaves behind — the small, deliberate cut that turns a board into a project. This site is for everything that comes after that first cut.

The Kerf is a place to share woodworking plans. Anything from a shop jig to fine furniture: anyone can upload a plan, and anyone can browse, download, and build from one — free. Plans are written as step-by-step instructions with photos, material lists you can check off at the lumber yard, and honest tool requirements (with alternatives, because not everyone owns a table saw).

It's run by one woodworker who wanted a better way to share plans than PDFs scattered across forums. There are no ads and no tracking — just plans.

How to get the most out of it

  • Browse plans — filter by category, difficulty, or what's in your shop.
  • Set up your workshop — record the tools you own and filter to plans you can build right now.
  • Built something? Post a build on the plan's page — photos of real finished pieces are what make plans trustworthy.
  • Have plans of your own? Share one. You keep ownership and choose the license.
