Privacy Policy — The Kerf

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

Draft notice: This is a plain-language draft prepared for review, not legal advice. Review before launch.

The Kerf is a small, solo-run hobby site. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do (and don't do) with it.

1. What we collect

2. What we don't do with your data

3. Cookies

We use one cookie: a session cookie that keeps you logged in while you're using the site. It disappears when you sign out or close your browser (depending on your settings). That's it — no tracking cookies, no analytics cookies.

4. Emails we send

We only send transactional emails — things like email verification when you sign up, and password-reset links when you ask for one. We won't add you to a newsletter or marketing list without your explicit opt-in.

5. Where your data lives

The Kerf runs on third-party hosting providers for web hosting and file storage. Your data is stored on their servers. We choose providers that have reasonable data security practices, but we're a small site and cannot make enterprise-level guarantees.

6. Your rights

You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and associated information by emailing contact@the-kerf.com. We'll respond as quickly as we can — usually within a few days.

Note: deleting your account removes your profile and private information, but plans you've published may remain on the site under the license you chose, unless you specifically ask us to remove them too.

7. Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. We'll try to notify registered users of significant changes by email.
